Together, a Forest

Together, a Forest…Drawing Connections Between Nature’s Diversity and Our Own written and illustrated by Roz MacLean is a richly illustrated and thoughtful picture book that helps children to understand diversity through the perspetive of nature. Set during a class trip to the woods, the story shows how each child connects with the forest in their own unique way, mirroring how individual differences strengthen a community.

I love the beautiful language throughout the book such as “Ben wants to wrap himself up in Moss like a blanket” and “Lichens remind Sofia of bursts of electricity, like what makes her power wheelchair zoom.”

Included in the book is an exerpt about All Kinds of Minds and an Author’s Note. To learn more about Roz Maclean, visit her website here.
