I Wonder

I Wonder written by Joyce Lo is a picture book about a young girl who meets who meet a boy who uses AAC. She is curious about how he communicates. The first time the young girl asks about the little boy, her parent tells her not to stare or be rude and takes her home. This happens a few times until finally the young boy using AAC communicates “hello” to the young girl. They finally meet and communicate with each other! The little girl has so many questions but feels at ease once AAC is explained to her.

I like I Wonder because it is very relatable situation. It is normal for others to have questions about different ways of communication. The best thing is to explain what AAC is and show others that communication can happen in all different ways!
