Different Thinkers ADHD

When I saw this book on Amazon, I was immediately interested! Different Thinkers ADHD written by Katia Fredriksen, PhD and Yael Rothman, PhD is an informative and visual picture book about ADHD. The authors who are pediatric neuropsychologists take the reader on journey to learn what it means to have ADHD, how the human brain works and why being a different thinker can lead to increased resiliency, curiosity and creativity.

Different Thinkers also expose readers to more complex vocabulary such as neurons, cerebrum, and brain stem. Other words which children with ADHD hear all of the time such as executive functioning and self regulation are described in a relatable way through the three main characters in the book: James, Sammy and Ella.

ADHD is often misunderstood by both adults and children. This book helps to describe how neurodivergent children can navigate the world better and understand their diagnosis better. Also, for children with ADHD, we need to celebrate their differences, not put them in situations where they can’t be successful. Different Thinkers highlight these strengths such as creativity, adventurous spirit and more! This picture also has an interactive component that children can participate in such as a strengths assessment.
