I am Albert Einstein

“Being different is what makes you special. So find what you love. Learn everything you can about it. And share the best parts with anyone that will listen. You never know who you’ll inspire. I am Albert Einstein (2014)

Teach your child all about Albert Einstein by reading the book from the series Ordinary People Change the World in I am Albert Einstein by Brad Meltzer. I am Albert Einstein takes the reader through the life of Albert Einstein from when he was a baby up until he was an older accomplished man. The book is humorous and also contains interesting and important information about the life of Albert Einstein. I am Albert Einstein is ideal for children in 2nd grade and up but can read to younger children with modifications made.

When Albert was born, he thought in pictures not words. When he learned to speak, he would practice each sentence before speaking.  From the time he was a little boy, he was immediately fascinated by the world around him and preferred to plan alone which other children teased him about. After being sick in bed, his father gave him a compass, which changed his life. This sparked an interest in him which led to his passion for the world around him. The author describes various inventions that Einstein created including his journey through his education and work experience. I am Albert Einstein also shows the reader how Einstein struggled with his coursework and even earned the lowest score in his physics class. Did this stop him from earning the Nobel Prize? Nope! He never gave up and always followed his passion.

I loved this book because it can teach children many valuable lessons. It celebrates people who are different, curious, patient and adventurous. Being curious can be the best gift. “The more questions you ask, the more answers you will find.” I am Albert Einstein (2014)
