Mrs. Gorski, I Think I Have The Wiggle Fidgets

Do you have a child with ADHD? Does your child have problems sitting and paying attention in class?

Mrs. Gorski, I Think I Have The Wiggle Fidgets  (ages 6 and up) by Barbara Esham is an excellent book to have in your home library and can be quite important in a school library as well. I love this book because it explains the symptoms of an attention deficit disorder in a way that many children can relate to.  The reader also emphasizes how common the “wiggle fidgets” are which can bring great comfort to a child.

The book begins with the main character, David Sheldon getting in trouble (again!)  by his teacher, Mrs. Gorski. David can’t seem to stay out of trouble because of his need to move around and try out his many genius ideas . With this discovery of the “wiggle fidgets”, David discovers ways to help him pay attention in class and help his teacher understand his attention difficulties. His “cures” can not only help him, but also help other students in class that also have trouble paying attention.

Included with this book are some helpful resources for parents and teachers. Very insightful words from Dr. Hallowell included as well!
